About
Hello there! My name is Yves Bourgelas. I am an illustrator and comic artist from Rouyn-Noranda, Québec, Canada, currently residing in Gatineau, with a nice view on Ottawa, Canada’s national capital.
I have a Bachelors Degree in Arts and Design, option Comic Arts from the Université du Québec en Outaouais. I’ve also studied 2D animation in Quebec City.
I love comic books, classic and modern 2D animation, and video games (mostly Nintendo and the Super Mario franchise).
I am also a professional disc-jockey and a collector of Dance music from the nineties. I used to produce music in the early 2000’s, but these days I mostly do mixtapes for fun. More info about my music activities can be found on dj.bourgy.net!
In 2009, I have started Supercrash, a comic book series I have been developing since as early as 1999. The first issue was published in its integrity here. The French version was published by the Studio Coopératif Premières Lignes (now Éditions Vents d’Ouest) and printed as a hard cover comic book. The English book was self-published, as will be the second tome of the series, planned for release during spring 2017.
Nowadays, you can find me in the many comic and animation festivals held in Eastern Canada, the most notables being Fan Expo Canada, the Montreal Comiccon and Otakuthon. I also tour schools and smaller comic festivals to hold workshops.
You can reach me and see my work on Facebook (on the Supercrash page or the The Bourgyman one, for more general artwork), Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr.
